Baltimore Crime Gun Intelligence Center Evaluation

In 2021 JSS received funding from the Bureau of Justice Assistance to serve as the research partner for the Baltimore Police Department in evaluating their Crime Gun Intelligence Center. This center began operations in January, 2021. Check back to see any forthcoming reports about the progress of this project.

In 2021, Justice & Security Strategies, Inc. partnered with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) to evaluate their Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC). This program was implemented in two of the historically violent areas of Baltimore. The Baltimore CGIC was unique as it operated a CGIC specific social media presence to communicate CGIC successes to the larger community. Results from this evaluation suggested that CGIC contributed to the drop in gun-related crime in the Western district.
